THE next Literary Lunch to be held in Minchinhampton Market House on Friday, October 26 at noon, is already fully booked, which is no surprise when we welcome the return of Prue Leith to talk about her autobiography Relish: My Life on a Plate.

On Saturday, October 27 from 1.30 to 5pm, at the Arkell Centre in Nailsworth, there will be an event about the autumn hibernation of hedgehogs, which will include games for children, a performance by the Hazelwood Puppet Theatre, a tombola and a chance to 'meet' some of the patients from the Hedgehog Hospital.

The Alzheimer Cafe welcomes Sue Collingwood on Thursday, November 8 at 7pm in Horsfall House, when she will talk about the therapeutic benefits of massage.

The next movie at Minchinhampton Market House will be Salmon Fishing In The Yemen with a full supporting programme on Friday, November 9 at 7.30pm. Booking is essential as this is a popular film. Tickets are now available from M & B Stores and are likely to sell out quickly. The film is an 'overcoming the odds' British comedy starring Ewan McGregor, Emily Blunt and Kristin Scott Thomas - all favourites with Minchinhampton audiences. The screenplay is by Simon Beaufoy (The Full Monty and Slumdog Millionaire) and the director is Lasse Hallstrom (Chocolat).

Also on Friday, November 9, the Minchinhampton Royal British Legion is holding a-quiz and supper at the Cotswold Club.

On Sunday, November 11 in Holy Trinity Church at pm, Music at Minch presents Glevum, a wonderful group of singers from Gloucester who will end Remembrance Day with some suitably reflective music.  For more details, please contact musicatminch.blogspot.com

The local trio of Gardening Clubs are having some interesting meetings in the coming month:

Minchinhampton Gardening Club will welcome Chris Evans from Dundry Nurseries to talk on The Fun of Gardening on Monday, November 19 at 7.30pm in the primary school.  Anyone who has heard Mr Evans speak before will know we are in for a very entertaining evening.

The Box Gardening Club will meet on Tuesday, November 20 at 7.30pm in Box Village Hall to hear Tiggy Lessner speak on Designing Your Garden. 

At Amberley Gardening Club, meeting in Amberley Parish Rooms on Thursday, November 8 at 7.45pm, Michael Leech will speak on Winter Colour in the Garden.

Another Murder Mystery is being staged at the Market House in Minchinhampton on Friday, November 16 and Saturday, November 17, entitled The Play's the Thing written by Gerry Robbins. During the interval supper you can discuss the clues, try to solve the crime and win  prizes.
