BAKER Brother Tom Herbert and his wife Anna helped to raise awareness of food poverty in the region by feeding 60 guests using only tinned goods.

The event, called Tin, Tin, Tin, took place at their home in Nailsworth on Tuesday, July 31, as part of the 5K Feast, a campaign organised by Stroud District Foodbank and The Marah Trust.

Guests were told to bring three tins from the back of their cupboards and four cooks - Tom and Henry Herbert, Hobbs House chef Anthony Smith, and Anna Herbert - used the ingredients to serve up a variety of interesting dishes.

Their inventions included sardines, pea puree, soups, crab cakes and vegetable curry.

They raised £100 for the two charities and three boxes of unused tins of food were donated to Foodbank.

Anna, who writes recipes using Foodbank ingredients for the SNJ, said: "The evening was really good fun and surprisingly tasty.

"As people in the food industry, we couldn’t believe that there are people in our area that struggle to feed themselves. It was really important to us to get involved and to help raise awareness of food poverty in the region."
