THE league of friends of Stroud Hospitals and the Health centre is the Stroud and District Athletic Club's chosen charity for this year's Puma Stroud Half Marathon on October 28th.
Friends Chairman David Miller hopes that the magnificent support which has been given to the Friends in the past will again be forthcoming, he said: "The League plays a very important role supporting health care provision at the Stroud hospitals and in the community through the work of the Health Centre.
"The Friends have recently been financially involved in the modernisation of Stroud General Hospital, while volunteers provide a number of weekday services.
"The Friends continue to urge community support in their bid to make the future of the Stroud Maternity Hospital more secure, while Weavers Croft and Park House also come under their umbrella.
"Sponsorship of half-marathon runners will give the work of the Friends a further boost," states Mr Miller.
Entry and sponsorship forms are available from the Stroud News and Journal Office, Stroud Information Centre, Batemans and Stroud Leisure Centre.
One can also enter direct by sending full details, together with a SAE to Entry Secretary, Stroud and District AC, PO Box 108, Stroud, Glos, GL5 5YT. Cheques can be made payable to SDAC; 7 club members; 8 non-members.
