Winning start for Stroud swimmers

STROUD's first gala of the new season saw them take a trip to Keynsham where they emerged victorious against teams from Bristol Central, Bristol North, Yeovil and Keynsham A and B.

The first session proved very even and Stroud found themselves in second place behind Keynsham A but after going ahead in race 12, they never looked back and pulled away throughout the rest of the gala to win comfortably.

The boys and girls were evenly matched for first places with the ten years leading the way with Stacey Leivers and Max Davis having two wins each. Other first places were Kathryn Jones, Melissa Garraway, Jacqui Ford, Rosie Godfrey, Kerrie Aldridge, Peter Foster, Andrew Sprague, David Macarthur, Oliver Howley and Ben Hardman.

Next weekend is a busy one for Stroud. Saturday night sees a gala at Bath Dolphins and Sunday sees the Thornbury Fast Water Open Meet with Stroud having a strong squad for the 50m sprints.

Saturday also sees Stroud's first representative swim with Kerrie Aldridge selected for the Gloucestershire Schools team taking part in the English Schools Competition at Tiverton in Devon.
