Brimscombe commit hara-kiri

Brimscombe and Thrupp 1, ICI Fibres 3

SELF-inflicted wounds cost the Lilywhites three points and their first home defeat of the season.

But what a start, within a minute Matthew Ely had put Brimscombe in front, an 18 yard drive clipped off the underside of the crossbar and fairly ripped into the net.

The visitors replied immediately, Adam Bennett's long clearance bounced in off keeper Lee Daniels and over his head for a fortuitous equaliser.

There was nothing lucky about the two other strikes from ICI which gave them a second away victory this season.

Both set pieces, sloppy defending by Brimscombe allowed Gareth Howells and Mike Feighery to put the Gloucester side 3-1 up at half-time, although the Lilywhites tightened up at the back in the second half.

The visiting keeper held everything that came his way and Brimscombe no way through.
