Super Stroud book place in next round of Senior Cup

Stroud 32, Camberley12

STROUD claimed a superb 32-12 victory over National League Three South side Camberley at Fromehall Park to book their place in the second round of the Senior Cup.

With skipper Jerry Perrins sidelined by injury the home side were ably led by Stewart Cale.

Attacking from the kick off Stroud put Camberley on the back foot from the very start and came close to scoring twice through the left wing Adrian Hand.

Despite intense pressure it was not until the 18th minute that Stroud managed to put points on the board after Camberley were penalised for failing to release the ball, which centre Julian Harry duly slotted over.

The visitors came back strongly but Stroud were always up to the task with the back row unit of Stewart Cale, Adam Tarplee and Rob Shipton tackling hard and defending well.

Camberley were further surprised when a superb move started by outside half Steve Thompson saw centres Harry and Crampton combining well to put full back Simon Morgan over for a try under the posts, which Harry converted.

Stroud forwards were gaining quality possession and combining well with the backs. Well orchestrated moves were further confounding the visitors.

Fine runs from both wingers, Hand and Pearse and with Morgan coming into the line at pace from full back it was making Camberley defend hard, this further pressure resulted in another penalty which Harry duly converted to make the score 13-0 at halftime.
