Head will be much missed

THE head teacher of Marling School has died at the age of 47, after a battling against a kidney illness. Dr Graham Lowe died peacefully in Gloucestershire Royal Hospital on Thursday.

"Our school has lost a fine and courageous head teacher," said Jennie Varley, chairman of Marling governors. "Our thoughts and prayers are with Graham's family at this very sad time."

Marling staff, governors and pupils are deeply saddened and shocked by his death, said an education authority spokesman.

A school spokesman said Dr Lowe was admitted to hospital during the summer holiday with a kidney problem, which he had been suffering from for about two years.

He lived in North Woodchester and is survived by his partner Lesley. He did not have children.

Deputy head teacher Roger Lock is currently the acting head teacher.
