You back bus station status quo

THE News & Journal's survey carried out to discover what people wanted done to the Merrywalks bus station in Stroud revealed most people would rather see it left untouched than replaced by a cinema.

The survey asked whether people wanted the station to stay where it is, moved close to the railway station or moved further along Merrywalks as a temporary measure.

37 of those who returned the slip wanted it left where it was, though many of these wanted to see facilities at the station improved.

A further ten people said they would like to see it linked in with the bus station - so long as it was part of a well-thought out, co-ordinated scheme.

Two people said either of these options were acceptable and just two people could stomach the idea of having the bulk of the buses shifted along Merrywalks.
