Waiting list for convent

NUNS are hoping to extend their convent at Brownshill in response to an increase in applications

The Congregation of Mary order of nuns has applied for planning permission to build a 12-bedroom extension to the existing convent next to St Mary of the Angels Church and Temple in St Mary's Lane.

"The order is currently over-subscribed and needs more space to accommodate those on the waiting list wishing to join the community," said Alison Brown of the congregation's planning consultancy, Buchanan Partnership.

"We think a well designed scheme can complement the church and sit well in the surrounding environment of Brownshill."
