Woman is hit by tractor

A PENSIONER was critically ill in hospital yesterday after being crushed by a runaway tractor in a field near Stonehouse.

The 70-year-old woman was laying Tarmac with her husband when she was struck by the tractor, which police believe had rolled down a slope towards her.

She was flown by air ambulance to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital just after 1pm on Thursday, September 27.

Her condition then was described as 'critical but stable' but on Tuesday morning hospital officials told police her condition had deteriorated to 'critical'.

She has been in GRH's intensive therapy unit where patients receive one-to-one nursing attention.
