Lacklustre Painswick

Old Cryptians 25, Painswick 24

PAINSWICK produced a lacklustre and disappointing performance on Saturday against Old Cryptians in a Glos Division One match.

Although playing poorly Painswick were only beaten with the last move of the match, Cryptians scoring a try in the corner.

The home side started the stronger and found themselves leading 20-8 at the interval, Painswick's points coming from a try by Harry Waller and a penalty from Ali Bressington.

In the second half Painswick dominated proceedings but poor handling and choosing of wrong options prevented them from edging further than four points in front.

Winger Simon Stewart added a try with Bressington converting and adding three penalties to give them a four point advantage with only minutes remaining. But from the restart the ball was dropped and Cryptians were awarded a scrum.

From the resulting scrum Painswick were penalised for charging and Cryptians took a quick penalty to score a try in the corner to give them victory by a single point.

This weekend sees Painswick at home against Tewkesbury in Glos Division One action (kick-off 3pm) and they will be hoping for a much improved display.

Painswick United 62, Old Cryptians 3

PAINSWICK United completely destroyed Old Cryptians' second string on Saturday scoring nine tries in a superb display of running rugby.

The United forwards dominated all aspects of play and provided their three-quarters with good quality ball.

Try scorers for the United Paul Moore (three), Chris Dix, Ben Sutton, Traylock, Steve Fraser, Mark Hayward and Rich Coates who also added seven conversions and a penalty.
