Jazzing up the blues with a star

JAZZING the blues is the theme of the next performance at Stroud's new venue for live jazz and blues music when the one-time guitarist for Little Richard and Neil Young takes centre stage at the Stroud Jazz Cafe.

Adrian Byron Burns, whose nickname is 'The Funky Troubadour', will be bringing his band to The Space, in Lansdown, Stroud, the home of the Stroud Jazz Cafe this Saturday, October 6.

Adrian is a blues singer as well as guitarist. He is equally at home with jazz and rock and was voted Acoustic Artist of the Year in 1999 and again in 2000.

Accompanying Adrian will be Jim Mullen, Jazz guitarist of the Year 2000, and Roger Inniss who was bass player on Elkie Brook's recent UK tour.

Blues medleys of the songs of Hendrix and The Beatles are included in Adrian's range, as well as cover versions of John Lee Hooker songs and his own compositions.

This is the first blues act to appear at the Stroud Jazz Cafe which aims to offer a wide range of blues and jazz styles to music fans of the Stroud area.

Profits from the concert will go to MIND, the mental health charity.

Tickets from Trading Post in Nelson Street, on the door, or call 01453-767403.
