Shaken not stirred

HE'S macho with a keen eye for the ladies and he goes by the name 007.

But he's not going to pose any threat to Sean Connery or Pierce Brosnan just at the moment.

For this 007 is a hard-drinking Siberian Husky, who was howling with delight this week after being chosen as the mascot for an exclusive drinking club in Whitminster.

He's really called Angus and as he celebrated his nomination as member 007, of the new Whitminster Hotel Private Bar and Club, his owner Richard Spurrier said that he was shaken but not stirred by the honour.

"He is well-known dog around town and he's a regular at the bar," said Mr Spurrier.

"He prefers to take his water straight but he allows himself a cuppa now and then.

Hotel owner, Henry Springer, has had a special ID tag made for Angus aka 007 so that impostors cannot take his place when the club re-opens on Friday, October 26.

"But he will have to abide by the rules drawn up for him," warned Mr Springer.

"Appropriate grooming and barks and no growling." But will 007 be taking advantage of the free puppy minding on offer?

"He is still playing the field," explained Mr Spurrier.

"So it will be some time before we hear the patter of tiny paws."
