THE rough, tough, legendary band King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys arrive at the Subscription Rooms, Stroud on Friday, October 19 to present their riot of rumbustiousness.
Their stage show often belies that they play some of the finest, most authentic rhythm and blues ever to come from outside the USA.
They've stepped straight out of a 1942 black and white B movie to deliver a whirlwind of pure and authentic jazz and blues from an era when swing was king.
On his BBC Radio R & B programme, Paul Jones described them as 'the hardest act to follow since the parting of the Red Sea.'
During 14 years and more than 2,500 shows, they've built up a huge following of fans and have played with some of the great names on the international jazz scene such as Van Morrison and headlined at festivals throughout Europe.
King Pleasure himself is unique - his fame as a great blues shouter is well-founded but listen out for his ballad interpretations where he brings a surprising sensitivity and delicacy and don't forget to enjoy his big-toned Texas-style tenor playing.
