Headteacher hurt after paper injury

PAPER cuts must be a professional hazard for teachers but no-one expects to be blinded by a sheet of A4. Yet that is exactly what happened to Rod Harris, head teacher at Minchinhampton Parochial School. The unfortunate Mr Harris was doing his homework over the weekend when he dropped a sheaf of papers which bounced back up, slicing into his right eye and eyebrow. "I've got what's called a corneal abrasion," said Mr Harris. "It will mend but it's quite difficult working without being able to see what's going on over one shoulder." When the head teacher turned up for assembly on Monday with his eye bandaged up many of the children thought it was some kind of joke but once they realised what had happened they were very concerned and caring. Mr Harris said: "It gave me a good opportunity to speak about the importance of taking care of yourself."
