Lift off for new netball club

TRADITIONALLY netball is the number one team sport played by women, but the opportunities to learn and develop the sport outside of constricted PE lessons are hard to come by within Stroud.

It is a fact that over 90 percent of women drop out of any sporting activity after they leave school, and a lot of this is because they purely do not know about opportunities available to them beyond their school years.

A brand new club has been created to help bridge the gap from school to leisure participation.

It is an exciting partnership between Randwick Netball Club and Archway Sports Centre, and will run every Tuesday from 7pm.

Girls aged 11 and over are all welcome to come along to Archway Sports Centre, and it is hoped that this extra training will let them explore their potential in the sport and obtain the interest to continue to play beyond leaving school.

The club will feature good level coaching and there will be a fun game each week.

The emphasis will be on fun through learning and players will be encouraged to develop at their own speed with no pressure to perform. The adult team train after the girls' training and any ladies wanting to get back into the sport are welcome to come along and have a go.

Randwick Netball Club play in the local league and are very keen to help people back into the sport and keep it alive in Stroud.
