Festival should be a real blast

THERE'S an explosive new multimedia festival coming to Gloucester this November in the shape of Blast 2001.

Billed as "Gloucester's first ever large-scale event for young people," it aims to expose the public to an exciting cross-section of new music, art, media and exclusive experiences."

This promises to be an exciting month to be young in Gloucester; EMF, missing in action since the mid-nineties, make their reunited debut at The Guildhall for two nights this weekend.

End-of-festival party Blasted offers, amongst other things, "a massive inflatable environment" created by air architects alongside top DJs and VJs.

A selection of culture-challenging exhibitions, from artists such as Hafsah Naib, Simon Ryder and Nettie Edwards, will be lighting up the night-time scenery or appearing on bus shelters, as well as in more conventional exhibition spaces.

Also appearing are DJs and bands such as spunge and Pay As U Go Kartel.

There's quite a smorgasbord of artistic endeavour to pick at in Gloucester this November.
