STROUD College has taken its bid for permission to build houses on its Nailsworth campus to the High Court.
This week it announced its intention to appeal against a recent Government planning inspector's judgement.
The judgement upheld Stroud District Council's decision to deny outline planning permission for housing on the Highwood Campus, Forest Green. The college contended the decision was "biased".
Last December, campaigners were jubilant when Stroud District Council development control committee turned the outline planning application down.
More than 800 people wrote letters to Stroud MP David Drew and 1,400 signatures were collected against the plans.
And they redoubled their efforts at the appeal hearing in September, with the backing of Mr Drew alongside the town's council and chamber of trade.
They feared Highwood's neighbours, Forest Green Rovers FC, would be forced to abandon expansion plans and move out, leaving the area without the football club, leisure facilities and a college presence.
