Hallowe'en jape sparks anthrax scare

HARMLESS white powder sparked off an anthrax scare in Minchinhampton on Wednesday.

Village resident Katie Jarvis was alarmed by a dusting of white powder scattered over the war memorial and on the window sills and the pavement in Butt Street as she was walking to her home.

With a heightened awareness of the possibility of an anthrax attack, Mrs Jarvis informed the police.
