Sewage plant's noise is making life a misery

STONEHOUSE residents are losing sleep over a sewage problem but it is not the smell that is getting up their nose.

People living in Stonehouse and Eastington are complaining that a 'droning, whining' noise from Stanley Downton Sewage Works is keeping them awake at night.

Speaking to the Stroud News & Journal on Monday, Mr Clive Payne who lives in Bristol Road, Stonehouse said: "We can't have our windows open no matter how hot the weather and it spoils our day if we try and sit out in the garden.

"It is an intermittent problem that can happen during the day or night.

"We spoke to Severn Trent Water just over a week ago and they said they would send out an engineer but we haven't had a response from them."

Residents say that the problem has been going on for about a year.
