Spitfire pilot's an ace hubby

AFTER only two hours the handsome World War Two fighter pilot knew he had met the woman with whom he would spend the rest of his life.

And this weekend Michael Maltin celebrated the best decision of his life when he toasted his diamond wedding with wife Christine, at a family party at their home in Woodchester.

RAF fighter pilot Michael was flying Spitfires at the start of the war serving under the legendary air ace Douglas Bader when the couple met at a dance in Chester in 1940.

"That night I told my friend George I was going to marry Christine as we were travelling back to our base on the train," said Michael. "I knew she was the one as soon as I set eyes on her."
