Publican dies after battle with cancer

WELL-known and much-loved Stroud publican Andy Thomas lost his battle against cancer on Monday.

Andy sold The Pelican pub last year but kept hold of The Golden Fleece in Nelson Street.

Something of a cult figure in the town, he was instrumental in the launch and continuing success of Scams Productions, a group which took around 200 Stroudies to Glastonbury Festival every year.

For details of the wake and funeral call Rodda Thomas, landlord of the Golden Fleece, on 01453 764850.
