THREE Stroud High School Girl Guides are set for the trip of a lifetime after making it through a stringent selection process.
Bethan Lloyd, Lucy Winstanley, of Eastcombe Guides and Claire Greenwood from Tetbury are the only Guide representatives from Gloucestershire going to the four-yearly international jamboree in Sattahip, Thailand.
Between now and next Christmas they will be working hard to raise £2,500 to cover costs to make the trip where they will join some 30,000 scouts and guides from more than 80 countries.
They will camp, take part in peace, physical and creative activities, and hopefully learn some new languages.
For part of their three week stay they will live with a local family and return home on January 13, 2003.
"We're all looking forward to it," said Bethan, 15, who like Lucy lives in Bussage. "We're really lucky to be going."
