THE new head of a Woodchester School is hoping to build on the school's already excellent reputation.
Settling in to her second term as head of St Dominics Catholic Primary School, Margaret Smith has been delighted with ethos existing at the school.
"I love it here, the children are brilliant and there is a very caring atmosphere within the school," she said.
"The facilities here are excellent, a big hall and a big playing field, we are so lucky for a small school."
Mrs Smith was born in Nympsfield.
After teacher training at Digby Stuart College, South London, Mrs Smith has spent most of her career teaching in the Five Valleys.
After 12 happy years at Amberley Parochial School and a short spell at Miserden Primary, she was delighted to come to Woodchester.
"I am from within the parish and I attend mass at the church," said Mrs Smith. "I have enjoyed all my career to date and the opportunities that have arisen. "Although I never set out to be a head teacher, I did the National Professional Qualification for Headship to support the role as deputy head at Amberley and that seems to have opened doors."
A recent LEA review has commended the school on its ethos for learning.
