FA Umbro Trophy Third round replay Aldershot Town 2, Forest Green Rovers 3
Forest Green came good in the replay of their FA Umbro Trophy third round tie when they travelled to Aldershot and won by the odd goal in five last Tuesday night.
Rovers goals came from Carl Heggs, Mark Cooper and Mark Shaw.
Suspension had prevented Heggs from appearing in the 1-1 draw at the Lawn. But he underlined his striker status when he put Rovers ahead on 26 minutes after picking up a loose ball and sending his shot past the keeper.
Rovers skipper Mark Cooper maintained his reputation as a long range hot-shot with a 25 yard special to give Forest Green a first-half lead of 2-0.
Mark Watson pulled a goal back nine minutes into the second-half but Shaw re-established Rovers two goal cushion.
Although Aldershot pulled a goal back through their influential midfielder Paul Harford, they were unable to find an equaliser.
Rovers host Worksop Town and ex-England star Chris Waddle in the next round of the campaign on February 2. Last season Rovers beat Worksop 2-1 in the quarter-finals of last seasons Trophy.
