Normal services

COMMUTERS from Stroud will not be affected by this week's rail workers' strike.

The two companies which run trains through Stroud and Stonehouse, Virgin Trains and First Great Western have assured passengers they will be running normal services.

The strike action will be carried out by staff at South West Trains only. "The perception appears to be that all trains companies in the South West are experiencing strike action," said First Great Western managing director Mike Carroll.

"That is not the case. "First Great Western will be operating its normal timetable and staff will do all they can to help rail travellers reach their destinations."
