Heroic rescue from blazing flat

A RELUCTANT hero has been dubbed Superman by his proud family after rescuing a man from his blazing home.

Michael Gardiner was enjoying a drink in the Bisley House Inn, Middle Street, Stroud on Saturday evening when he heard the fire alarm go off next door.

With the help of other regulars, he dragged the victim from his smoke filled room and extinguished the fire. The victim was given a check-up at Stroud

General Hospital and discharged later that day. "We call dad Superman," said daughter Natalie, of her father who lives at Mason Road, Stroud.
