Old Brand of comedy still gets you laughing

COMEDIENNE Jo Brand is bringing her razor wit to Cheltenham Town Hall next Wednesday, February 20 at 8pm.

If, like her, your pet hates include supermodels, sad blokes, politicians and thin people (to name but a few), you'll be very happy to hear that The Stroud News and Journal has two pairs of tickets to give away as prizes in our easy-to-enter competition.

Brand is conducting a UK tour to coincide with the launch of her new BBC panel show series, Jo Brand's Hot Potato, and plans to spend much of the tour questioning the logic behind the things that irritate her most, such as teenage boys, keeping fit and sex.

She has a laconic, polemic and deceptively droll outlook on life, most likely inspired by her early career as a social worker and then a psychiatric nurse.

She had to deal daily with addicts, alcoholics and the clinically depressed. "Being a nurse gave me great insights into how other people behave," she says.
