THE OPERATORS of the new police telecommunications system have been accused of moving the goalposts by campaigners.
A third planning application for a TETRA (Terrestrial Trunked Radio) antenna on land at Selsley Common has been filed at Stroud District Council.
Lynne Edmunds of Stroud Area Residents Against Harmful Radiation, pointed out that any comments made on the last application will have to be resubmitted to the council, which is expected to make a decision on March 12.
"My belief is that this tactic is aimed at confusing local residents who have objected and hope that either exhaustion will stop them from objecting in this case for the third time," she said.
An application was withdrawn at the end of January and anotherwas resubmitted.
Another application, refused by SDC is also the subject of a public inquiry appeal which is set to go ahead in April.
Mark Ede, communications manager for MMO2, which will run the system explained that the application was resubmitted because land ownership on the Transco site had to be clarified.
"It was nothing malicious or devious," he said.
Anyone who wants to see the plans can call SDC on 01453 766321 or call in at Ebley Mill. Comments must be submitted before the development control committee meeting on March 12.
