GLOUCESTERSHIRE detectives travelled to France this week in an effort to solve the mystery behind the disappearance of Bisley publicans Bob and Barbara Dorey.
There was still no sign of Mrs Dorey (59) or their grey Jeep Cherokee, after a man's body was found in The Channel last week. Police believe the body could be Mr Dorey's.
The couple left a suicide note behind at their pub, The Stirrup Cup Inn on Tuesday, February 12 and have not been seen since. Detective Insp Geoff Brookes, who is leading the inquiry, met with French Gendarmes in Calais on Monday and an appeal has been launched in Kent to try and trace the Jeep.
"We do know that the Doreys did not travel through the Channel Tunnel, or take their vehicle by ferry from either Dover or Folkestone," said DI Brookes.
"It is possible they were foot passengers on a boat, in which case we are very keen to trace anyone who may have seen them at either of the ports, or who saw, or knows now, where their vehicle is.
"As time goes on and with the information we have, there are grave concerns for the welfare of Mrs Dorey."
