CELEBRATED Washington DC bluesman Ben Andrews will be appearing at Blues at the Lock next week.
Andrews has shared a stage with such luminaries as Muddy Waters, Bo Diddley and Mick Fleetwood in the 20 or so years since he started playing and has received rave reviews all over the world.
He was also the runaway success of last year's Bishopstock Festival; he was the only artist to be called back for an encore and his CDs outsold everyone else's.
"Ben Andrews plays a variety of guitars with passion and integrity," said Blues at the Lock organiser Steve Hill.
"It's rare to find a combination of superb guitar, stunning vocals and natural swing, but he's got it. He's possibly the best Delta/Piedmont blues man in the world."
Andrews is supported on the night by singer/songwriter Dave Onions, a multi-instrumentalist who sings songs full of conviction, humour and well-placed cynicism.
He has supported a number of people in his three years as a solo artist, including The Oyster Band and Albert Lee - who dubbed him "the best support act we've had."
"We're really lucky to be able to get them both," said Steve. "Come and catch them before they get too famous!"
Blues at the Lock takes place at The Lockkeepers, Wallbridge, Stroud on Tuesday, April 2 at 8pm.
