Young man in road death

A ROAD accident in Stroud resulted in a death on Tuesday afternoon. It was understood that the accident had involved a bus and a young man.

The collision took place in Beeches Green, shortly before 3pm.

Paramedics treated the man's injuries at the scene but he was pronounced dead and his body taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital mortuary.

The bus had left the scene by the time the police had arrived but was stopped by officers in Shurdington on the outskirts of Cheltenham.

The driver and passengers were then interviewed.

Police closed the road at Merrywalks and Stratford Road, redirecting rush hour traffic.

The coroner has been informed and a full police investigation is underway. Any witnesses are asked to contact Stroud police on 0845 0901234.
