Boarders and BMXers jump at new ramp

SKATERS and BMXers are jumping for joy in Bussage, following the installation of a ramp where they can pull their stunts.

Chalford Parish Council unveiled the ramp this week at Bussage playing field and it has already proved a hit with youngsters who flocked to it over the weekend.

"It was something we were asked for by the youth of the community," said Cllr Muriel Milton of Chalford Parish Council.

"They asked for a skateboard ramp as their main requirement - we want them off the streets with a skateboard, it's too dangerous on the roads."

She said Cllr Janet Gaskell initiated the £10,000 plus project, which was mainly funded by the parish council and Stroud District Council, as well as the National Lottery. Bussage policeman Sgt Geoff Potter was full of praise for the new ramp.

"I'm taken aback by it," he said. "I had no idea it was going to be so big.

"There's so many people who have moaned about the kids on skateboards but the parish council has been brilliant - it's just what they need."
