Major accolade for SDC

STROUD District Council has been awarded Beacon status for its work in the fight against rural crime.

For several years it has worked with Forest of Dean District Council and Tewkesbury Borough Council in a number of crime reduction initiatives including the Bogus Callers Helpline, Message in a Bottle, Safe Child, the Validate scheme and the Emergency Personal Information card.

Having become Beacons, the three councils will receive more than £40,000 in additional Government grants and be required to share their experience and knowledge with other councils across the country.
