ONE of Stroud's biggest employers has this week confirmed the loss of almost 50 jobs in a major restructuring plan.
The Stroud & Swindon building society, which has its headquarters in Rowcroft, Stroud and employs over 400 staff, has completed the period of consultation with staff after announcing the changes on February 19 this year.
John Parker, the society's chief executive said the changes were intended to improve efficiency, maintain a competitive edge and manage costs.
Redundancies at head office and at regional branches, five of which are to be closed, are expected to total just under 50.
The society announced record results at the end of February and its AGM will be held in the Subscription Rooms in Stroud on Thursday.
