Caption: Alan Glen, whose band The Barcodes play at The Space on Saturday June 15 Take a tin of Mose Allison, a packet of Jimmy Smith, and add a six-pack of rhythm'n'blues, and you have the ingredients of the next helping of live music at the Stroud Jazz Caf when Alan Glen of The Yardbirds brings his blues band to Stroud.
The Barcodes are a trio of top class musicians who have spent many years playing the blues circuit both here and in the USA. They were recently nominated by British Blues Connection magazine as Best British Blues Band of the Year 2001.
As well as being a member of The Yardbirds, Alan Glen has played with Dr. Feelgood, Nine below Zero, Little Axe and 'Sonny Black and the Dukes'. The other members of the band are Dino Coccia and Bob Hadrell.
Dino has appeared with Andy Sheppard, Grace Jones, Homesick James, Larry Garner and Tutu Jones.
Bob Hadrell adds his vocals and piano to the roaring and inventive blues menu of cover versions and original material, such as Let the Good Times Roll and a funky version of Walking the Dog.
Bob has played extensively in the USA, also working and writing with top Nashville artists, and has recorded with Billy Swan and 'Chicago' Jimmy Dawkins.
The Barcodes can be heard on Saturday 15th June at the Stroud Jazz Caf based at The Space, Lansdown, Stroud. Doors open at 7.30pm, and music begins at 8.30pm. Tickets, at £9, are available on the door or can be reserved by telephoning 01453 767403.
