FOREST Green Rovers manager Nigel Spink was pleased to announced that Martin Foster will be the club captain for the coming season.
Midfielder Foster takes over from Mark Cooper, who has moved on to play for Tamworth United in the Dr. Martins League.
Martin missed only 5 league and cup matches last season and was consistently competitive in every match.
This spirit earned him the majority of the clubs awards, Directors Player of the Year, Managers Player of the Year and the converted Players Player of the Year.
He joined the club in January 2001, making his debut in a 1-0 home win against Northwich Victoria.
New signings
Nigel Spink confirmed that he has had serious talks recently with a central defender from Torquay United.
Lee Russell was born in Southampton and signed as a trainee with Portsmouth where he stayed from July 88 to May 99. During that time he made 103 appearances scoring three goals.
He made three appearances with Bournemouth on loan before moving on to Torquay United where he appeared for 78 games. He was released at the end of last season.
