County honours for SWR students

FOUR Sir William Romneys School students have recently been performing for their county or in county championships.

Lizzie Sandall is this years under-14 200m and 75m hurdles champion. She also managed an excellent fourth position in the 100m.

Lizzie has been selected to go to the English Schools Championships to be held in Nottingham in July. She will be competing in the 75m hurdles.

Fran Stephens took part in two throwing events, she was second in the discus and fourth in the shot.

The two girls were competing in the Gloucestershire County Championships held at The Prince of Wales Stadium, Cheltenham.

Tom Bowrey is one of only two golfers who is unbeaten in this seasons county matches. During the half-term holiday he managed two wins against Wiltshire. The match was held at Toms own course of Minchinhampton.

He and his partner won the mornings foursome match. He continued in winning style in the singles in the afternoon, managing to secure the match on the last green.

Tom has been selected for the mens Gloucestershire County B team to play Somerset at Lansdown on Sunday, June 30.

Matthew Bennett has been selected for the County Under 14s cricket team. On June 30 he will be playing for the county against Hampshire.
