A PHYSIOTHERAPY assistant from Standish was higher than a kite on her 40th birthday.
Mandy Keedwell celebrated the milestone by hurtling herself out of an aeroplane at 150mph.
She took part in a charity parachute jump in aid of Stroud-based the Meningitis Research Foundation and raised £350.
Mandy was one of 140 people from England and Wales to join in the free-fall strapped to an instructor.
"It was absolutely fantastic. Very exhilarating," said Mandy.
"It was like when you go on a fairground ride and your stomach goes up, then down - except this time it didn't come down."
Mandy wanted to help the foundation because her uncle suffered from viral meningitis 20 years ago.
A spokesman for the charity said Mandy's money would be a valuable contribution towards its vital work with meningitis and septicaemia - the blood poisoning form of the disease. The foundation can be contacted on 01454 281814.
