Young girl attacked

A 12-Year-old girl was indecently assaulted in Nailsworth on Friday morning. The youngster was on her way to school when she was approached by two teenage boys.

She had just cut through from Market Street into the Co-op car park at 8.05am and was walking along the rear of the shops.

She was then approached from behind by a young man with a red baseball cap pulled down over his face, who grabbed her by the shoulders.

The second teenager, who was wearing a black balaclava, then walked up to her from the front and indecently assaulted her.

The victim struggled with her attackers and managed to kick the man wearing the balaclava in the shins.

Both men then released her and walked off before getting into an old green car and driving off along Old Market, turning left into Springhill, towards Forest Green.

Both attackers were white, aged 17 to 19, and as well as their distinctive headgear they were both wearing jeans. The car had a red bobble attached to the end of the aerial and a loud exhaust.

Inspector Pete Craddock, of Stonehouse police, said: "Police have carried out extensive enquiries into this assault but we need the help of the public to make further progress.

"We would like to hear from anyone who believes they may have seen these men either before or after the attack.

"Someone must know who they are. If anyone is aware of someone coming home that day with unexplained bruises on their shins we would like to know.

"Fortunately attacks of this type are very rare in the Nailsworth area and we are doing all we can to make sure this does not happen again.

"We have been in touch with schools in the area to notify them about this incident and we would advise all children and parents to be aware of police advice on 'Stranger Danger'."

Anyone with information about this attack is asked to call Stonehouse police on 0845 090 1234 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
