Dumped needles found in park

A WORRIED mum is warning others to be on their guard after finding syringes dumped in a children's play area in Cainscross at the weekend.

Samantha Hughes had taken her three-year-old son Reece to play on the swings in Victory Park on Sunday when she found the needle left behind by a drug user.

"There was another mum there and she told me to be careful as she had already found one earlier," she said.

The two mums picked up the syringes and put them out of harm's way in a plastic lunchbox.

Mrs Hughes was upset that the heroin addicts had not even bothered to dispose of the syringes properly.

"What if it had been a child who found them?," she asked.

"If you can't take your child to the park to play and feel safe, where can you go? "If it had gone into Reece's foot I would never have forgiven myself.

"It's a nice clean park with fencing all around the play area and you just wouldn't expect to be faced with that horror." "As a parent it really freaks me out."
