DJ raises cash for Bali victims

A Stroud DJ who had a lucky escape from the Bali terrorist attack is hoping to raise more than £10,000 for Balinese burns victims and their families.

Rich Fletcher, 32, had spent several months as a DJ in a club close to the two worst hit night-spots.

He left the Indonesian island two weeks before bombs claimed 180 lives on October 12.

Rich had been playing just a few doors away from the Sari Club and Paddies, both devastated by the attack.

He said: "At the time there were unconfirmed reports of Osama bin Laden being in Bali and that hit tourism even though it was a rumour."

In the aftermath of the tragedy the former Maidenhill pupil is now hoping to raise funds through the Australian run charity ' World Vision' which is using the money to help Balinese burns victims and their families.

Rich known as RICH F has already received a number of pledges from ' big name' DJ's such as Brandon Block and Mike Cosford along with the Retreat wine bar in Stroud, and is waiting on further pledges from Radio 1's Dave Pearce and Judge Jules.

"I truly feel we owe it to these beautiful people to help them in their darkest hour," said Richard.

Find out how to help Rich in this week's SNJ or send a donation to World Vision at World Vision 1 vision drive, Burwood East Victoria 351, GPO Box 399C, Melbourne, Victoria 3001, Australia.
