Fighting fire with fashion

FASHIONABLE firefighters have been enjoying a snazzy new look at Stroud fire station.

Staff were recently decked out in new kit just like the one in television's London's Burning.

The gear uses the latest firefighting technology and has been implemented across the county.

And it seems to suit the local workers.

Stroud station commander Tally Giampa said: "Everyone seems to like it.

"We had a few teething problems but now we're getting used to it. "They all look very smart."

The new kit is designed to be highly visible, ergonomic and unrestrictive.

The firefighters' previous uniforms have been given to Quedgeley rescue charity Rapid UK and will be donated to a fire service in a third world country.
