Addison rues lack of cutting edge as Town strikes twice

FOREST Green boss Colin Addison was happy at his side's commitment, but blamed the lack of a cutting edge in front of goal for last Saturday's 2-0 Nationwide Conference League defeat by Halifax Town at The Lawn.

It was their 11th league defeat of the campaign and the setback leaves them fourth bottom of the Conference table, with a lot of hard work ahead if they are to edge away from the relegation zone as Addison conceded afterwards.

"It was a shame because we played well for a while. We kept possession and we passed it around well, but there was no real cutting edge and we didn't take our chances," he said.

"Kayode was a little unlucky at the end when his header came back off the post, but you get nothing for that," said Addison, who claimed he was not too concerned about the fact that it was a fifth home league defeat of the season.

"I'm not bothered about statistics. All I know is that we've got a battle on our hands and it was always going to be a hard game. Let's not forget that we were playing a side who have been in the Football League for about 80 years, apart from a short spell out and we have given them a game," he said.

"We have more than given them a game and the only difference was that they had a cutting edge and we didn't, but the only thing we can do is to work harder. There is no money to spend so you have just got to get on with it, but there were a lot of good things and a lot of plusses came out of the game.

"The first 20 minutes were excellent but you must capitalise on good spells whether you are in the Premier League or the Conference. We didn't and we must start taking chances," he said.
