Delve into the dark world of bouncers

FOLLOWING a hugely successful debut performance at the recent Stroud Fringe Festival, Dead Earnest Theatre Company return to the stage with their interpretation of John Godber's darkly satiric comedy Bouncers.

Stroud's newest amateur theatre group performed to a sell-out house at the Festival, and took on the demanding play with a relish and verve that delighted both audience and press.

The production was lauded as 'a risk that paid off in spades' and 'a riot from start to finish'.

"Bouncers delves into the dim, seedy world of the night-club and introduces a menagerie of characters who inhabit it," said director Gavin Hurley.

"The cast had a great time playing male and female clubbers and - of course - the bouncers."

With minimal use of lighting and sympathetic, sometimes poignant, musical accompaniment, Dead Ernest Theatre Company give a hilarious portrayal, tinged with a subtle helping of social comment.

"We had such a strong response last time, and so many people couldn't get in to the show that we had to put it on again," said cast member John Ferguson. "It's a play we really enjoy anyway, which is rather lucky."

"We plan to be back next year with a Dario Fo's Accidental Death of an Anarchist," he added.

Bouncers takes place at The Space, Lansdown, Stroud on Friday and Saturday, December 6 and 7. Tickets are available from The Queen Victoria Inn, The Golden Fleece and Kane's Records, Stroud.
