Santa misses appointment

DISAPPOINTED children were left wondering if Santa had a problem with Rudolf after the big man did not make it to their street at the allotted time last week.

Children waited expectantly for Father Christmas to visit Cashes Green last Tuesday evening but he had not made an appearance by the time they had to go home to bed.

"It said on his rota he was going to be here but he didn't appear," said grandmother Margaret Wells of Prince's Road.

"The little ones were very disappointed."

"He didn't make it up here but he was spotted in the car park at the Cainscross Co-op. "All my grandchildren came over to see him but he didn't turn up at all and all the children from around here were waiting for him.

"I wondered if he'd broken down."

Mr Christmas told the News & Journal he had been in Cashes Green on Tuesday spreading festive cheer but unfortunately he had not been able to visit every street.

"We were in Cashes Green on Tuesday night, by Jove yes," he said.

"We saw a lot of people in the area around Hunter's Way and Westrip and we got held up at a school but we didn't manage to get to the other side.

"It's so difficult to get it all done in one night and we can't do it after 8pm because we don't want to keep the children awake too late."

Mr Christmas said he would be out every night this week and would try to fit into his busy schedule the parts of Cashes Green that had been missed if at all possible.

He offered his unreserved apologies to any children who had been disappointed but asked them to understand he was extremely busy at this time of year.
