A WANDERING donkey sent police on a wild goose chase over Christmas.
Police were alerted by a member of the public at 11.30am on Monday, December 30 after the footloose and free animal was spotted stepping out along Bisley Road.
But the elusive creature gave officers the slip. The walkabout donkey was last seen heading towards Lypiatt.
Sgt Mike Yhnell of Stroud Police said: "We didn't find the three wisemen or baby Jesus."
Meanwhile, police managed a successful animal capture on Boxing Day afternoon.
An angry billy goat caused traffic chaos as it wandered around dangerously on Toadsmoor Road.
The loose goat was eventually captured and put into a nearby field.
