Blooming great show

MEMBERS of the cast of Little Shop of Horrors - the Jill Woods Theatre Company's next big production - checked out The Flower Studio in Minchinhampton recently.

They were hoping to find a similar plant to the one acquired in the musical by florist's assistant Seymour Krelborn during a total eclipse of the sun. Seymour is played by Nathan Brine, who was a major success as Bullfrog in last year's production of Honk.

The plant, placed in a New York shop window, immediately attracts the attention of passers-by who arrive by the dozen and create more business than the florist has ever previously achieved.

The sinister little plant, named Audrey Two after Seymour's secret love for his co-assistant Audrey, could not be found in Minchinhampton, and a good thing too, as Audrey Two has an outspoken desire for human blood.

Little Shop of Horrors is a delight for the whole family, young and old, packed full of zany humour and infectious music. One critic described it as a 'a wickedly wonderful night out'.

The company will be performing Little Shop of Horrors at the newly modernised Cotswold Playhouse, Stroud from Friday, February 21 to Saturday, March 1 at 7.30pm and matinees on both Saturdays at 2.30pm.

Tickets are available from the Tourist Information Office, Subscription Rooms, Stroud 01453 760960 (telephone bookings and credit card facilities available) or Jill Woods Theatre Company 01453 882550.

The production is sponsored by the Stroud News and Journal and proceeds go to CLIC (Challenging Childhood Cancer and Leukaemia).
