Pop quiz for charity

MUSIC fans are invited to raise a few notes for a good cause by taking part in a charity pop quiz.

The friendly contest in aid of Standish Hospital's League of Friends will take place at the hospital on Saturday, January 25 at 7.45pm.

Run by DJ Mike Manning of the hospital radio, the quiz for hospital staff and members of the public will involve all sorts of music.

Mike promised it will not be heavily rock-based like some similar competitions.

He is looking for another six teams of four people to join in.

Entrance costs £10 per team and will include a free drink each. Just over a year ago the same event managed to raise more than £100.

To help beat that figure, call Mike on 01531 821291. * Standish hospital is supposed to be closing in 2004, though the final date is still to be confirmed. The League of Friends opposes this closure.
