NUMBERS of people demanding broadband in Nailsworth have swelled following an article in last week's Stroud News & Journal.
An extra 23 people signed up after estate agent Clive Murray said homebuyers were put off moving to the town by slow internet links.
He claimed not having access to the speedier system was holding rural places like Nailsworth back.
At least 350 people need to express an interest for BT to take action.
The figure is currently 194.
After the SNJ article an extra 11 people also joined an on-line campaigning group that aims to get broadband installed.
The group's 20 members argue property prices, business people and students are all suffering because they can't access up-to-date technology.
One user said: "As a computer hobbyist and management consultant who works from home and makes heavy use of the internet, I am itching for Nailsworth to get into the 21st century."
The benefits of broadband include saving on travelling time by being able to take part in video calls, cutting out hours waiting for information to download and being able to surf the internet and talk on the phone at the same time.
